The Parade of Noises is an annual outdoor event which allows over 700 grade four students the opportunity to celebrate music with professional musicians from across the country. The large ensemble of children all perform on homemade musical instruments, and parade through downtown Brampton, sharing odd culture with the community. This event is recorded onto a CD which each student receives as a complimentary souvenir to reflect upon in later years.

The Parade of Noises 2006 will be conducted by composer and Music Roots president Richard Marsella. The project will be overseen by the renowned Canadian composer and music educator R. Murray Schafer. Mr. Schafer will visit Brampton periodically to follow-up on the progress within the community, and ensure the project is executed efficiently. Murray Schafer has launched similarly large works in some European cities, and he is one of the most valuable sources of experience to guide the Music Roots team. Music Roots is also strongly supported from the City of Brampton, The University of Toronto’s Faculty of Music (Christos Hatzis and Lee Bartel), and the Peel Board of Education, The Ontario Trillium Foundation, The SOCAN Foundation, The Ontario Arts Council and more. A team of over twenty part-time and volunteer staff has been formed to execute this plan.

Parade Route
The short parade route will travel from Cardinal Leger Catholic School (75 Mary St. Brampton), along Main Street until the students all reach Brampton's Gage Park.

From there, the 700-student noise orchestra and a group of over 100 professional musicians will perform the Finale Section, the story of "The Family Tree" by composer Richard Marsella.
