ABOUT US

Music Roots Seminars is a not-for-profit organization and registered charity which offers alternative music education across the Peel Region in Ontario. Incorporated in 2003, the Music Roots mandate is to offer students in the public school system an unforgettable introduction to music. The company is lead by composer and music educator Richard Marsella. The pilot year of the Music Roots program reached over 150 grade four students.

In 5 one-hour sessions, Music Roots offers children several different perspectives of music-making, from musical instrument construction through to composition and performance. Music Roots is a fun and engaging program which aligns with the Ontario curriculum music requirements.


Music Roots has an Advisory Council made up of Professor Lee Bartel, Faculty of Music, University of Toronto, Marilyn Field, DareArts Foundation for Kids, Scott Lale, The City of Brampton, and composer/music educator R. Murray Schafer.
